Workforce Recruitment Program for College Students with Disabilities (WRP) For further inquiries, contact Diversity and Leadership at 703-604-0580.

The Army has a strong interest in providing quality employment to persons with disabilities. Toward this end, the Army participates in the Workforce Recruitment Program for College Students with Disabilities, a program that is co-sponsored by the Department of Defense (DOD) and the President's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities (PCEPD). The program's recruitment and referral system provides a systematic review of applications from college students with disabilities who are current or recent graduates and are seeking summer or permanent employment. The program as it exists today began in 1994 when PCEPD and DOD joined forces to lead an effort to expand the program to all federal agencies. The program includes students:

  • Who have a disability;
  • Have graduated from an accredited institution of higher learning within the past six months, or
  • Are enrolled at such an institution in a degree program on a full time basis.

By utilizing a recruitment and referral system developed and funded by the Department of Defense in conjunction with the PCEPD, the program assists college students with disabilities find summer employment. Installations & activities are able to review qualifications and select students using Schedule "A" appointment authority. The Army's Equal Employment Opportunity Agency (EEOA) administers the placement of students in Army with assistance from the staffing team at the Northeast Regional Civilian Personnel Operations Center (NECPOC), Aberdeen, MD.
